Trump presses China before his first meeting with President Xi
US President Donal Trump has said his meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping next week would be “very difficult”. Taking to Twitter, Mr Trump indicated that the meeting would be very difficult because “ we can no longer have massive trade deficits and job losses.” It will be the first meeting between the two presidents since Trump took office. Trump will host Xi next Thursday and Friday, 6 and 7 April, at his Mar-a-Lago retreat in Florida. Both the White House and China’s Foreign Ministry have confirmed the meeting would cover trade relationships between two countries, while the US has also said issues relating to the South China Sea, Taiwan and North Korea are going to be discussed.
